Golf Injury?

The most common sites of injury to the amateur golfer's body is:

  • Low Back Pain: 27-36%
  • Elbow injury: 32-35%
  • Hand and Wrist Injury: 14-21%
  • Shoulder injury: 11-16%

Golfer, do you get these symptoms?

We have people come through our clinic on a daily basis to get treatment, supportive care, and relief for these symptoms. Wrists are often overstressed with practicing the swing, elbows usually go along with the wrists. Shoulder muscles are strained with swig compensation. Knee injuries can prohibit a full game of golf because of the pain with walking. Oftentimes, foot biomechanics can cause an imbalance of the pelvis and spine.

Our clinic does an excellent job of treating these injuries, and we can provide the tools to increase flexibility and movement of all of the individual joints of the spine to work with ease. We have low back rehabilitation as a part of our golfer's protocols and chiropractic care for spinal function.

Chiropractic adjustments of the wrists, elbows, shoulders, ribs, knees and ankles work wonders with some of our patients with overuse injuries from golfing. Along with this, since we have doctor-supervised protocols, you are provided with a full examination and a diagnosis of your condition.

Often, when golfers have spine injury or pain, they compensate by shorting the swing, and over stressing the shoulder. Click here to learn about shoulder injuries, or here for wrist and elbow injuries. Learn more about low back pain here.

Golfers with injuries can be treated in our office independent of our Golf Swing Sonoma program too. Call (707) 575-5158 to check on our availability, and to set up a consultation and appointment.

About Us

Dr. Brian Thalhamer and Dr. Todd Lloyd were working together on a patient who was going through their spinal decompression protocol for low back pain. They began to create a golf specific program so she wouldn't reinjure herself. When she returned to the game, her scores began to improve. The doctors realized that when they were working with the patient on increasing her flexibility and her coordination, that her game would improve. With that discovery, they reproduced their success multiple times.

It is with this discovery that they contacted Spine Force to see if they had any other clients who have noted success with golfers and the Spine Force machine. It turns out that one of the world's leading golf coaches used the spine force as well as "David Leadbetter" and a French company Biomecaswing. The manufacturer provided us with even more specific protocols which we have implemented.

The Doctors at 5th Street Spine, Wellness Chiropractic have a combined experience of more than 25 years in the field of musculoskeletal performance and treatment.
